A high-resolution carbon isotope profile through the uppermost Neoproterozoic–Lower Cambrian part of the Sukharikha section at the northwestern margin of the Siberian platform shows prominent secular oscillations of δ 13 C with peak-to-peak range of 6–10 ‰. There are six minima, 1n–6n, and seven maxima 1p–7p, in the Sukharikha Formation and a rising trend of δ 13 C from the minimum 1n of − 8.6 ‰ to maximum 6p of + 6.4 ‰. The trough 1n probably coincides with the isotopic minimum at the Precambrian–Cambrian boundary worldwide. Highly positive δ 13 C values of peaks 5p and 6p are typical of the upper portion of the Precambrian–Cambrian transitional beds just beneath the Tommotian Stage in Siberia. A second rising trend of δ 13 C is observed through the Krasnoporog and lower Shumny formations. It consists of four excursions with four major maxima that can be correlated with Tommotian–Botomian peaks II, IV, V, and VII of the reference profile from the southeastern Siberian platform. According to the chemostratigraphic correlation, the first appearances of the index forms of archaeocyaths are earlier in the Sukharikha section than in the Lena–Aldan region.

Abstract
The Purpose of the study is to carry out the correlation of profiles of the Precambrian deposits of the Siberian and China platforms, to compare tectonic scales by the age of the Precambrian final folding, to distinguish geological and structural backgrounds of the oil-and-gas content of Siberian and North China platform Rifeide (siniede). The Methods used in the study include the comparison of the coeval structural and material complexes formed in similar geodynamic conditions, correlation of classical basic profiles of the Precambrian of the Siberian platform, its southern frame and the North China platform. Results. The scales of structural and material complexes of the Precambrian of Siberia and China are composed. The correlation is performed which is based on the regional scales of structural and material complexes, that is material expression of regional geological systems of Siberia and China, and age-wise tectonic scales, which are also accepted in Russia and China. It is noted that drastic change in the orientation of the Riphean structures with the Pre-Riphean structures on the Asian continent coincides with the Liu Liang movement, which corresponds to the Vyborg movement on the territory of Europe, to early Riphean movement in Siberia, to the Hudson movement in the American continent: 1800– 1600 million years. This planetary stage of continental destructions is also the time of disintegration of the SinoSiberian pracontinent into the Siberian and North China cratons. The detailed analysis of the Pre-Riphean evolution of Sino-Siberian pracontinent and the geological history of the Riphean structures has allowed to distinguish the geological-structural backgrounds of the oil-and-gas content of the Siberian and North China platform Rifeides (sineides). Conclusions. The correlation of the Precambrian of the Siberian and North China platforms shows the analogy of the structural-material complexes composition. The comparison of tectonic scales by the age of final folding allows to draw a conclusion on the industrial oil-and-gas content of the Riphean and Sinian formations on the Siberian and China platforms.

abstract = "The Purpose of the study is to carry out the correlation of profiles of the Precambrian deposits of the Siberian and China platforms, to compare tectonic scales by the age of the Precambrian final folding, to distinguish geological and structural backgrounds of the oil-and-gas content of Siberian and North China platform Rifeide (siniede). The Methods used in the study include the comparison of the coeval structural and material complexes formed in similar geodynamic conditions, correlation of classical basic profiles of the Precambrian of the Siberian platform, its southern frame and the North China platform. Results. The scales of structural and material complexes of the Precambrian of Siberia and China are composed. The correlation is performed which is based on the regional scales of structural and material complexes, that is material expression of regional geological systems of Siberia and China, and age-wise tectonic scales, which are also accepted in Russia and China. It is noted that drastic change in the orientation of the Riphean structures with the Pre-Riphean structures on the Asian continent coincides with the Liu Liang movement, which corresponds to the Vyborg movement on the territory of Europe, to early Riphean movement in Siberia, to the Hudson movement in the American continent: 1800– 1600 million years. This planetary stage of continental destructions is also the time of disintegration of the SinoSiberian pracontinent into the Siberian and North China cratons. The detailed analysis of the Pre-Riphean evolution of Sino-Siberian pracontinent and the geological history of the Riphean structures has allowed to distinguish the geological-structural backgrounds of the oil-and-gas content of the Siberian and North China platform Rifeides (sineides). Conclusions. The correlation of the Precambrian of the Siberian and North China platforms shows the analogy of the structural-material complexes composition. The comparison of tectonic scales by the age of final folding allows to draw a conclusion on the industrial oil-and-gas content of the Riphean and Sinian formations on the Siberian and China platforms.",

Abstract
—The least altered limestones of the Ukta and Eselekh formations in the Precambrian section of the Kharaulakh uplift have a minimum 87Sr/86Sr ratio of 0.70673–0.70715. The lowest 87Sr/86Sr ratio of the overlying Neleger and Sietachan formations is 0.70791–0.70817. Based on these data, along with the earlier obtained positive δ13С values (up to 8‰) for the Kharaulakh section, we have estimated the age of the Ukta and Eselekh formations at 800–670 Ma and the age of the Neleger and Sietachan formations at ~640–580 Ma. The Pb–Pb isochron age of the least altered limestones of the Eselekh Formation calculated from eight samples is 720 ± 30 Ma. This age permits us to define the lower part of the Kharaulakh section of the Ukta and Eselekh formations to be the late Tonian of the International Chronostratigraphic Chart or to the Upper Riphean of the General Stratigraphic Scale of Russia. The presence of reliably dated Upper Riphean sediments in the Kharaulakh uplift indicates a more complex structure of the Precambrian sedimentary cover on the Arctic margin of the Siberian Platform than assumed earlier.

Abstract
—This special issue is dedicated to discussing the possibility of the stage division of the Vendian system, specifically, a composite section of the Siberian Platform is proposed as a stratigraphic standard. For the Ordovician system of the Siberian Platform and Northeastern Russia, certain changes in stratigraphic charts are proposed, nomenclative issues and different variants of correlations of regional horizons with the General Stratigraphic Scale (GSS) of Russia are considered. A geochemical analysis of Bajocian and Bathonian belemnite rostra of Arctic Siberia was carried out and for the first time a comprehensive C, O, and Sr isotope characterization of the sections was obtained, making it possible to propose a comparison of the studied sections with the European standard and to develop paleogeographic models. Comprehensive studies of the Upper Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous series of the Anabar Bay deposits (Laptev Sea) led to an improved biostratigraphic division for this reference section and to the identification of the levels for interregional and global correlation. The magnetostratigraphic division of the Jurassic–Cretaceous boundary interval and its comparison with the Tethyan regions are discussed. Taking into account biostratigraphic data, the δ13Corg variation curve can also serve as a correlation tool. The clinoform structure of Upper Jurassic strata was revealed in the northwest of the Anabar–Khatanga depression, based on the interpretation of seismic profiles calibrated against studied sections. The formation of this complex allows us to consider this stage as the initiation of the Verkhoyan orogeny in this folded area. Analysis of variations in the thickness of sediments allows us to deduce that intense tectonic-sedimentary processes took place during the Late Jurassic epoch, along with subsidence of the bed of the sedimentary basin. Analysis of a specific assemblage of lacustrine fossils from the reference section of the upper part of the Lower Cretaceous series of Transbaikalia and of published data showed that this fossil assemblage was widespread in East Asia. Biofacies analysis made it possible to reconstruct the paleoenvironments of this time.

—The Precambrian–Cambrian transition is one of the most fundamental evolutionary turnovers in the Earth’s history. However, in many cases precise identification and correlation of this crucial boundary in lithologically contrasting sections is complicated, even if the whole spectrum of biostratigraphic and chemostratigraphic methods is applied. The Precambrian–Cambrian transitional strata of the Igarka Uplift (Sukharikha Formation) perfectly illustrate this problem. This unit has arguably one of the most detailed carbonate carbon isotope curves for this time interval (at least within the Siberian Platform). However, an extremely poor paleontological record previously reported from the Sukharikha Formation makes identification of major stratigraphic boundaries highly debatable. We present a detailed study of the Sukharikha and overlying Krasnyi Porog formations in three sections (Sukharikha River, Kulyumbe River, and Khantaisko-Sukhotungusskaya-1 well). Our chemostratigraphic and biostratigraphic data provide a correlation basis for these sections and identify the Cambrian boundary in terms of both the International Chronostratigraphic Chart and General Stratigraphic Scale of Russia. We show that lithologic boundaries and levels of the local first appearance of Tommotian small skeletal fossils are diachronous within the Igarka paleobasin. The latter is putatively caused by paleoecology of the early Cambrian biota and by taphonomic factors. Our data specify the location of the Tommotian Stage (sensu lato)/Cambrian Stage 2 boundary in other key Precambrian–Cambrian transitional sections of the Siberian Platform.

Abstract
—We present new data on the chemical composition of the late Precambrian rocks in the upper part of the regional Balaganakh stratigraphic horizon (the Nugan Formation at the Baikal segment of the Sayan–Baikal–Patom belt (SBPB) and the Bugarikhta Formation of the Balaganakh Group at the Patom segment of the SBPB) and the U–Pb (LA-ICP-MS) age of detrital zircons from the Bugarikhta Formation. It has been established that the rocks of the Nugan and Bugarikhta formations resulted from the destruction of igneous and metamorphic rocks. The contents and ratios of trace and rare-earth elements in the rocks of the Nugan and Bugarikhta formations indicate a predominance of felsic igneous rocks in the provenance and the presence of rocks of mafic and intermediate compositions at the source of the terrigenous rocks of the Nugan Formation. The U–Pb age of detrital zircons from all rocks of the upper part of the regional Balaganakh Horizon is close to the age of the rocks in the basement of the southern margin of the Siberian Platform, which suggests that this basement was the main source of clastic material in the sedimentation basins. It is argued that the “pre-glacial” (pre-Marinoan) terrigenous deposits of the Nugan and Bugarikhta formations, as well as the deposits of the Ipsit Formation at the Sayan segment of the SBPB, accumulated in the Late Riphean (ca. 720–640 Ma), probably in postrift basins that formed immediately after the separation of Siberia from Laurentia at the early stages of the opening of the Paleoasian Ocean.
