Abstract
This book is a blend of papers from two separate symposia, one held at Woods Hole, Mass., in June 1977 and the other at the North American Paleontological Convention in Lawrence, Kan., in August of the same year. The latter concerned problems of the Cretaceous‐Tertiary boundary event, whereas the theme of the Woods Hole symposium was the current state of uniformitarianism. The combining of papers from the two symposia makes for a curious mixture that does not always address the subject of catastrophes.
