Zusammenfassung
Dieser Artikel argumentiert, dass Darwins Theorie der Evolution (zumindest) zwei Modi bietet, um das Verhältnis zwischen Leben und menschlichem Wissen zu verstehen. Einerseits kann Darwin in einen allgemeinen Wandel zum „Leben" einbezogen werden, in dem das menschliche Selbstwissen Teil einer allgemeinen Entfaltung zunehmenden Bewusstseins und anthropologischer Reflexivität ist; das Leben schafft ein Organismus, den Menschen, fähig, die Logik des organischen Daseins zu erkennen. Andererseits bietet Darwin die Möglichkeit, das Leben jenseits der Selbsterhaltung des Organismus und daher jenseits der Vernunft des vermeintlichen Strebens des Lebens zu verstehen.
