Zusammenfassung
Überreste von Vögeln gehören zu den seltensten Fossilien, und nur wenige wurden beschrieben, außer aus den jüngeren Formationen. Mit Ausnahme von Archœopteryx aus dem Jura und einer einzigen Art aus dem Kreidezeit sind keine Vögel in der Alten Welt unter dem Tertiär bekannt. In diesem Land wurden zahlreiche Vogelreste im Kreidezeit gefunden, aber es gibt keine befriedigenden Beweise für ihr Bestehen in einer älteren Formation; die dreizehigen Fußspuren des Trias wurden wahrscheinlich alle von Dinosauriern gemacht.
