Triclads

Experimente von Gelei (1924) zeigen, dass bei Dendrocoelum lacteum tatsächlich ein sehr wirksamer Mechanismus zur Verhinderung der Selbstbefruchtung existiert. Wenn diese Art vom Schlupf an allein gehalten wurde, produzierte sie Kokons mit Eiern, die nicht befruchtet worden waren. Zwei solche Tiere, die beide während der Isolation unfruchtbare Eier produziert hatten, legten nach der Paarung Kokons mit fruchtbaren Eiern.
