Este artigo examina a preservação do Antigo Testamento através dos papéis combinados da linguagem, práticas de documentação e providência divina, contextualizado no cenário mais amplo das tradições de registro do Antigo Oriente Próximo. Argumenta-se que a sobrevivência e a relativa estabilidade textual do Antigo Testamento não são resultados acidentais da história, nem o resultado exclusivo do esforço humano, mas o produto de uma interação sustentada entre a intenção divina e a responsabilidade humana disciplinada. Baseando-se em evidências linguísticas, descobertas arqueológicas e práticas comparativas de documentação do Antigo Oriente Próximo, o estudo analisa como os sistemas de escrita, materiais, instituições escribais e culturas arquivísticas contribuíram para a transmissão fiel dos textos sagrados de Israel. Atenção especial é dada à língua hebraica, ao papel dos escribas, ao processo de transmissão das composições originais ao Texto Massorético e à importância dos Rolos do Mar Morto para avaliar a consistência textual. O estudo adota uma metodologia qualitativa baseada em bibliotecas, utilizando textos bíblicos primários e literatura acadêmica secundária. Conclui-se que a preservação do Antigo Testamento reflete um modelo teológico no qual a Palavra de Deus é sustentada através da diligência humana dentro de contextos históricos e culturais específicos, com implicações importantes para os estudos bíblicos modernos, tradução e comunidades de fé.
