Resumo
Experimentos de Gelei (1924) mostram que existe algum mecanismo muito eficaz para a prevenção da autofecundação em Dendrocoelum lacteum. Quando mantidos sozinhos desde o momento da eclosão, esta espécie produziu casulos contendo ovos que não haviam sido fecundados. Dois animais assim, que ambos produziram ovos estéreis enquanto isolados, após o emparelhamento, depondo casulos contendo ovos férteis.
